Welcome! »
Why should I join a nation?
Because you expand your social network and get to know more people outside your programs or courses. You will get invited to loads of perties, "sittningar", sauna nights, movie nights or game nights and lots of other stuff. In short:
* Party - Free entry to our student pub, Nationernas Hus. Invitations to parties and "sittningsr". * Culture - We celebrate geographically connected traditions. * Social Company - Meet new interesting people outside your programs or courses.
Life in a nation?
As a member in a nation, you get a chance to meet new people, participate in activities and games for free at IKSU.
During the academic year 08/09 many lovely activities will be organised. Various ”sittningar”, meetings will take place on campus. Novischen(learn the way of ”sittning”), Burning Bock Gasque, Paltmiddagen and Finland's Independence Day are a few examples of what will happen.
You as a member in a nation will enter the House of Nations Pub free all the evenings we are open and get SEK 10 discount on the buffet served every Wednesday for students. You can get advice from experienced students about student life in general at these occasions. You will be able attend the activities organised by nations such as dance or movie nights and on major events like ”sittning” and social meetings. In particular, you will get to know people from all corners of Sweden and meet people outside your own institution/course/program.
If you like sports we have floorball and beach-volleyball. Floorball is played on fridays 13-15 at IKSU(we meet 15 minutes before that in the entrence) and volleyball plays at sundays 18-20 at IKSU. It is NOT necessary to have IKSU card to participate(if you are a member of a nation).
For those of you who want to become more conversant with the nation's life there are opportunities to be with and influence by organising their own activities or join a board and learn to take responsibility and work in groups.
You can work at House of Nations Pub but it is not an obligation. Maybe start your own Bar-group for exchange students?
How do I join?
To become a member you can visit us at Lindellhallen. We are there every wednesday lunch between 12-13.
* 100kr - Two semesters. * 60kr - One semester.
What do I have to do as a member?
Nothing. You don't need to be active to become a member. If you just want to get into Nationernas Hus for free that's fine. We will send a monthly e-mail to let you know what happens and you can choose whatever you want to go to or not.
